One of our service providers just suffered a major network outage, reducing our web capacity significantly for the past two hours.
We’re frustrated with the amount of time it took to resolve this issue, but are more disappointed that this issue had such a dramatic impact on our service. We’re already working to remove this component as a single point of failure.
Our deepest apologies for letting you down tonight.
It looks like Tumblr was down last night. A lot of people stumbled upon WhenTumblrIsDown.com. I even received an email, a cry for help:
I need tumblr. It is down. It is my key to sanity. And I need it before I go insane. (:
But everything is up and running now and we can continue enjoying Tumblr and all its awesomeness :)

For several hours this evening, an issue resulting from a software upgrade caused the Dashboard to be slow or unresponsive for many users. While your blogs were not directly affected, we know that incidents like this are inexcusable.

Tumblr was (partially) down earlier this week.
I’ve added the javascript code provided on sopastrike.com to whentumblrisdown.com so the site should be “blacked out” for 12 hours on January 18. I’m joining several other websites in a global blackout to protest SOPA and PIPA (these bills are just crazy - definitely not the right way to go).
I’m not in the US but I signed this petition. If you are in the US you can do even more! We have to stop this from changing the Internet!
