Cool, looks like Cassie found When Tumblr is down and posted it - which lead to a few reblogs and another spurt of traffic. Very nice. Thank you :) I’m glad people like it… But I’m thinking maybe I need to add a few sentences to the random pool - if you have any suggestions and want to help out please feel free to send in your suggestions here.
Oh, man… TUMBLR IS DOWN!!!
OK, well, it was down - but it’s back now (was only down for a few minutes) and now I can post this.
The title of the page said Maintenance… but there was also this text:
“Generated Wed, 31 Dec 2008 01:39:58 GMT by proxy.tumblr.com (squid/2.6.STABLE6)”
Haven’t seen that before… not sure if it’s supposed to be there or not - maybe it helps them see the origin of the error. When I tried going to my main tumblelog I got a similar message, but it said “rack1.tumblr.com”.
The problem is, I was in the middle of reblogging a post and I feared I would lose the text I had written. Fortunately I was able to use the browser’s back button without losing the text - I have to remember to always copy text before I submit it. I usually do it, but I guess I trust Tumblr too much ;) Haven’t had Tumblr go down in the middle of a reblog. But even though I was able to go back to my text I wasn’t able to hit the “ReBlog post” button - weird.

Looks like livejamie (aka Jamie Martin) found When Tumblr is down a few days ago and posted it on his fairly popular tumblelog. That resulted in a few reblogs and another spike in traffic. Thanks :)
Alright, two Tumblr big shots (livejamie and topherchris) have posted WTID on their tumblelogs, nice… I wonder what Tumblr big shot will be next. David Karp himself? ;)

Another spike in traffic because of this post and the following reblogs. If I read my web stats correctly BusStopRomance found the site after google-ing when tumblr is down. Thanks for posting the link and for all the reblogs people :)

It looks like topherchris has a lot of followers. People talk about the “Digg effect”, “Boing Boing effect”, etc. - I think there is definitely also a “topherchris effect” ;)
Then it looks like somebody submitted When Tumblr is down to StumbleUpon and I got a few new visitors through that.
I’m also seeing a lot of traffic from we heart tumblr which is pretty cool, I hadn’t heard about that site before.
So, thanks for checking out this silly project of mine and thanks for all the reblogs.
I also noticed that the Tumblr staff was reviewing the topherchris post as a Radar/Explore candidate but I guess they deemed it not worthy ;)
